Pop star Katy Perry has dropped a new music video for her latest single, ”Never Really Over.”
The music video sees Perry checking into an eccentric rehab. The goofy colorful backdrop has a very 60s vibe. Lyrically, the new track is bubble gum pop without much depth (“Two years, and just like that / My head still takes me back / Thought it was done, but I / Guess it’s never really over,” the chorus goes, in part), I’m still waiting for Perry to return to the sound that made her originally likable and relatable. 2008’s ”One of the Boys” and even parts of 2010’s ”Teenage Dream” had some really great songs with meaning and depth.
Hopefully, Perry’s new album will have something more to offer than just pop numbers like her last album ”Witness.”
