HipZOMJoint’s Role Call #48 Moooortttalll Koooombatttt!

More than two decades after the last movie, another Mortal Kombat film is on the way. Pre-production will start this month and the cameras are scheduled to start rolling in Adelaide, Australia later this year. South Australia Premier Steven Marshall said it’ll be the biggest film production in the state’s history.

Aquaman and Furious 7 director James Wan is producing the film, while Simon McQuoid is making his feature directing debut. The original film was something of a guilty pleasure. It wasn’t necessarily good, but it was enjoyable. However it never lived up to the franchise brutal action or gore.

If HipsterZOMBIEJoint was at the steering wheel of this reboot, the franchise would assemble some of the action genre’s greatest fighters and really go all out with the brutality fans have come to expect from the series.

This is who we would cast in the Mortal Kombat reboot:

Keanu Reeves as Raiden

For the role of Raiden you need someone who is a bit older and devoid of emotion. Who else but Mr. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves.

Iko Uwais as Liu Kang

As the main character in the film you need someone of the cusp of becoming a big star. Who else but The Raids Iko Uwais.

Sasha Luss as Sonya Blade

Do yourself a favor; go to YouTube and watch the trailer for the action film “Anna.” Sasha Luss will have you fan casting her in every film after that!

Chris Evans as Johnny Cage

We have gotten use to seeing Evans play boy scout superhero, Captain America. But he has the comedic timing to play the role of Cage. He pretty much played an exaggerated version of the role in Scott Pilgram vs The World.

Jessica Henwick as Kitana

Not only was Henwick the best part of Netflix’s Iron Fist, she was also the show’s best fighter. Sign her up!

Joe Taslim as Kung Lao

Another star from The Raid, Taslim already has a work history with producer James Wan having starred in Furious 6. He currently stars in Cinemax‘s incredible Warrior series.

Frank Grillo as Kano

For Kano you need someone with a big imposing presence who can hold his own in any fight. Grillo knows how to play a memorable villain as seen in Captain America films.

Tony Jaa as Scorpion

Watch any of his films and you will know why he should be in a film called Mortal Kombat. Nuff said.

Andrew Koji as Sub-Zero

Koji currently stars as the main character in Cinemax’s Warrior series. He knows how portray a detached character and is an amazing fighter. Sign him up!

TJ Storm as Baraka

Storm is no stranger to CGI characters. He has played Godzilla (in the Legendary films) The Predator, and some of the mo-cap work for Colossus in Deadpool.

Yayan Ruhian as Shang Tsung

As the main villain of the film you need a force of nature of a man who is relentless. Shows no remorse. And can wipe the floor with anyone in the room. Why not The Raid’s Mad Dog, Yayan Ruhian?

That’s who we would cast in the Mortal Kombat reboot but who would you cast? Do you agree with these fan castings? Disagree? Let us know in the comments. Stay tuned for future Role Calls only on HipsterZOMBIEJoint.com
