Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer to play Dracula on Syfy’s Van Helsing

It had to happen. Fans of SYFY’s Van Helsing have been asking for it. When would Van Helsing finally cross paths with Dracula? Now we know.

Per TVLine:

Tricia Helfer is sinking her teeth into a bloodsucking new role: The Battlestar Galacticaand Lucifer vet will play Dracula in Season 4 of Syfy’s Van Helsing, our sister site Deadlinereports. (Netflix and the BBC have their own Dracula project, with The Bridge‘s Claes Bang as the iconic character.)

Helfer “will be a fierce and unstoppable Dark One… as the battle between good and evil reaches new heights,” executive producer Chad Oakes tells the site.

The series has also tapped Richard Harmon (The 100), Nicole Munoz (Defiance), Keeya King (The Handmaid’s Tale) and pro wrestler Big Show for undisclosed roles.

Kelly Overton plays the titular character of the series, which was inspired by Zenescope Entertainment‘s graphic novel series Helsing. In December 2018, Syfy renewed the series for a 13-episode fourth season.

Van Helsing is set in the near future, where vampires have risen and taken control. Vanessa Van Helsing, a descendant of Abraham Van Helsing, awakens from a three-year coma after her supposed death to find herself in a post-apocalyptic world. She is humanity’s last hope, as her unique blood composition gives her the ability to turn vampires human.
