Confession of a Dangerous Mind – Logic

It seems like everyone from Taylor Swift to now even Logic is trying to teach people that life on Social Media isn’t exactly life in the Real World. Logic is best described as a “conscious rapper.” Conscious hip hop, or socially conscious hip-hop, is a subgenre of hip hop that challenges the dominant cultural, political, philosophical, and economic consensus, and/or comments on social issues and conflicts. This time around, the biggest thing in our cultural zeitgeist is Social Media and Logic takes aim at it. Stand out tracks include “Homicide, ” “Wannabe, ” and “COMMANDO.” Logic collaborates with the likes of Eminem, G-Eazy, and YBN Cordae on the new album.

Sanctuary EP – Aly & AJ

Aly and AJ Michalka, more commonly known as simply Aly & AJ, have quietly been making some of the best pop music out today. But they’ve been very busy in more recent years with other projects. Aly currently portrays Peyton Charles on the CW’s iZombie, and AJ stars as Lainey Lewis on Schooled along with lending her voice to Catra on the beloved animated Netflix series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Now they are back together making new music and experimenting with 80’s synth-pop on their new EP, Sanctuary. Stand out tracks on the EP include: “Church,” “Don’t Go Changing,” and “Not Ready To Wake Up.”

Beauty Marks – Ciara

Ciara has grown up from the first lady of Crunk&B to a woman who has traversed fame and life experiences of love and heartbreak. She still knows how to heat up the dancefloor with some vintage Ciara thumpers, but its her more intimate songs that drive the rest of the album to new heights we have barely seen Ciara begin to climb. Stand out tracks include: “I Love Myself,” “Level Up,” and “Girl Gang.”

PROBLEMS – The Get Up Kids

Indie Rockers, The Get Up Kids, are back with their first album in over 8 years! Frontman Matt Pryor’s distinctive vocals lead the emotional rock album with contemplative lyrics. But don’t get it twisted, the whole album isn’t just emo tunes,  James Suptic’s guitars roar on enough tracks that will keep you rocking! Stand out tracks include, “The Problem Is Me,” “Now or Never,” and “Satellite.”
