Women Rule The Stage At Coachella 2019

Coachella 2019 may not have had the showstopper star power of yesteryear but it most certainly had girl power.

Performers such as Kacey Musgraves, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and returning Selena Gomez, were just some of the female acts that rocked the stage at this year’s Coachella.

Per Teen Vogue:

During her crowd-pleasing set on Friday, April 12, Kacey Musgraves tried to find out how much yeehaw energy the crowd had, by urging them: “When I say ‘Yee,’ you say ‘Haw.’” The directions were simple enough but on the third round there was a pretty big epic fail, and Kacey called it out both IRL and on social media. “I didn’t say f*cking ‘yee!’” Luckily the rest of the set went smoothly.

Where as Musgraves had a hoe down, Billie Eilish was having an exorcism on stage. The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter performed “Bury a Friend” while posed atop a bed with iron railings suspended from the ceiling with chains, creating a vibe that definitely felt like something straight out of a horror movie. Billie’s set also included hit songs “When The Party’s Over,” “Ocean Eyes,” and “My Strange Addiction” to the delight of the crowd scream-singing along with every lyric.

Cardi B was joined on stage by a returning Selena Gomez. The two singer-songwriters made an appearance during DJ Snake’s set on Friday, along with Ozuna to perform their hit song “Taki Taki.” The performance marked Selena’s Coachella stage debut; previously, she has been seen attending the festival (and showing off plenty of cute springtime fashion). Cardi is no stranger to Coachella either, having performed at the 2018 event.

Other notable performers were Janelle Monae, who put on a futuristic fashion show during her set; the first female K-Pop band ever to perform at Coachella, BlackPink, who’s performance was live streamed in New York City’s Times Square; and finally crowd favorite of the weekend, Rosalia. She expressed her love and gratitude to just be at Coachella.
