WWE Superstar Dave Bautista has officially retired from wrestling. The Guardians of the Galaxy star had his final match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.
“To all the WWE fans across the world that gave me the opportunity to suspend your disbelief, thank you,” the Guardians of the Galaxy actor wrote on Instagram. “From the biggest part of my heart thank you for letting me entertain you. Tonight was my story book ending and I wanted to leave you with all I had to give. I’ll miss this theater of violence more than I can express in words but I am officially retiring from Sports Entertainment. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, I leave in great health, and without a doubt the show will go on. I had a hell of a run. Thank you for the journey.”
But don’t think for one second we’ve seen the last of Bautista. The actor has a slew of projects already in the can, including Avengers: Endgame (out April 26) and Stuber (out July 12). On Friday, Deadline reported that Bautista will star in the Zack Snyder-directed zombie film, Army of the Dead. He will also reprise his signature role of Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
His wrestling career might be over but his acting career has just started to take off.
