If there is a constant in the horror genre it is its forefathers. Dracula. The Wolfman. Frankenstein. And many more from the classic Universal Library. To honor these famous monsters of cinema, Universal hired a renowned artist, Triston Eaton, to create wall-sized murals of these fantastical characters.
Reported by THR, the studio commissioned Eaton, a street artist, to spray paint a massive Universal Monsters mural on a 50-by-200-foot wall, and goddamn is it GORGEOUS.
Work on the mural, which includes colorful tributes to Dracula, Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Wolf Man, began back in January, and it’s now almost complete. As THR’s Aaron Couch notes, Eaton took “particular inspiration from European posters whose art sometimes differed greatly from the films.” Maybe this will inspire Universal to resurrect these properties on the big screen (and no repeat the same mistake they did with the now-defunct “Dark Universe” brand that failed to jumpstart a cinematic universe.)
