Actor and director Penny Marshall has passed away. TMZ outlet reports that Marshall died Monday night at the age of 75. They say she passed away from complications of diabetes at her Hollywood Hills home.
Marshall played Laverne in the popular Laverne and Shirley TV show which aired for eight seasons from 1976-83. Marshall directed a handful of TV shows and films. Marshall is known for such classic films as “Big” and “A League of Their Own.”
Marshall’s death comes a little more than two years after her brother, Garry Marshall — who created the hit show Happy Days and directed movies such as Pretty Woman — died in July 2016. The TV and film guru died at age 81 from complications of pneumonia after suffering a stroke.
Marshall is survived by her sister Ronny, daughter Tracy Reiner and three grandchildren, Spencer, Bella and Viva. Plans for a memorial service have yet to be made.
