Big Godzilla King of the Monsters News Coming Out of Tokyo Comic-Con 2018

Godzilla had been teased to make some kind of an appearance at the 2018 Tokyo Comic-Con. The Monarch Sciences website has been tracking the giant lizard as he’s traveled the seas since San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Tonight he returned to his old stomping grounds. Playing before the panel is composer Bear McCreary’s new interpretation of Akira Ifukube’s Classic Godzilla theme (which will be used in the upcoming film.) To help promote the film, director Michael Dougherty appeared on stage to show off some exclusive new images from the film:

The images shown depicted a full look at Legendary’s Mothra (which looks far more insect than ever before) Rodan, and several images of Godzilla going toe to toe with King Ghidorah. Check the images out below:

A short new teaser was shown. Millie Bobby Brown‘s character was shown trying to make contact with Monarch as we see Rodan using its powerful wings to level a city. A ship is shown approaching a devastated Washington D.C. and the title card is shown. It was announced a new full length trailer will be dropping sometime next week.

Finally S.H. MonsterArts revealed their new figures of the monsters that will be appearing in G:KotM. This gave us our first full view of Legendary’s redesigned interpretations of Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Check them out below:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is an upcoming American monster film directed and co-written by Michael Dougherty. It is a sequel to Godzilla (2014) and will be the 35th film in the Godzilla franchise, the third film in Legendary‘s MonsterVerse, and the third Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio. The film stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe, and Zhang Ziyi.

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoologicalagency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is scheduled to be released on May 31, 2019, in 2D, 3D, Dolby Cinema and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures.
