JJ Abrams Says Star Wars Episode 9 Will Be A Course Correction For The Franchise

Star Wars fans are still reeling from the pain brought on by The Last Jedi and Solo. Both films failed to live up to expectations of fans. However, new Star Wars godfather JJ Abrams declared Episode 9 will be the course correction fans are looking for.

Solo was such a flop at the box office that it killed any and all plans for future origin films Disney had planned such as Boba Fett and Obi-Wan. The final depiction of Luke Skywalker also did not sit well with fans who wanted more of a heroic curtain call for the hero they grew up idolizing.

Abrams is in high-demand and other studios are eager to start working on a “mega deal” with the director for other projects. With that being said, a new report from Variety briefly touched on the current Lucasfilm situation. The report reads.

“He’s (Abrams) currently working on Star Wars: Episode IX, which has been billed as a course correction at Lucasfilm after spinoff films like Solo failed to meet the label’s high commercial expectations.”

Fans will find out if Abrams can stick the landing with Episode 9 December 20th, 2019.
