It’s another day and another Flash delay.
Warner Bros. planned Flash solo film (which may or may not be a version of Flashpoint) has been delayed until 2021, according to Variety.
The Hollywood trade reports filming was expected to begin in March, 2019 for a projected 2020 theatrical release. However, that schedule has reportedly been delayed due to issues with the script – a delay that Variety says is extended due to Ezra Miller‘s role in the third Fantastic Beasts film, which begins filming next summer.
This news comes on the heels of both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill being jettisoned from the DCEU. It’s ironic that Fantastic Beasts is the reason for the delay. The success of the Harry Potter brand is said to have pushed back DC Films from being made for years.
Flash will be directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the writers of Spider-Man: Homecoming. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Miller leaves the project and a new actor is chosen for the role. Warner Bros desperately wants to separate themselves from anything related to Zack Snyder or Justice League. Gal Gadot being the exception of course.
