Harrelson spoke with Collider recently about the role:
“I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know?” Harrelson said. “So I haven’t read that script, but anyways, just rolled the dice.”
Harrelson couldn’t confirm who he was playing in Venom, saying “I thought it was under wraps that I’m even in the movie.”
Venom which is opening in theaters this Friday has been receiving lukewarm buzz amongst fans. The film which was originally proposed as being a hard R horror/sci-fi film recently got demoted down to a PG-13 film. Despite the director saying the film pushes the limits of the PG-13 rating, one can’t help but remember the last time a studio tried to a make a rated R character into PG-13.
That’s right, Ghost Rider happened.
However, with the announcement of Harrelson as fan favorite villain Carnage now in the film, this might put a few more butts in seats. Or it can be seen as a last-second desperation move by SONY to put more butts in seats. This is after all said to be the first of an entire darker Spider-Man adjacent universe with just his villains (no spidey, which is still weird). Either way does having Carnage in the film have you more or less excited for the Venom film? Let us know in the comments.
