The First Teaser For X-Men Dark Phoenix Is Here

The Simon Kinburg directed X-Men film that will take another swing at the classic X-story, Dark Phoenix has just dropped it first teaser trailer. The troubled production has been rumored to have third story issues and even had to reshoot the entire final act of the film.

While the teaser doesn’t necessarily create a swell of excitement it does succeed in creating a tone of finality. If this is the final chapter in the “First Class” franchise (none of the cast contracts have been renewed going into the merger with Disney.) hopefully the story will afford them a proper send off.

Here is the official synopsis for the film:

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie Turner, Jessica Chastain, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, Kodi-Smit McPhee, and Alexandra Shipp.
