ABC Is Planning A Marvel Superheroine Series

ABC might be the least successful Marvel Studios TV branch. Agents of Shield, despite having a rabid core group of followers, never really was a big hit for the network. The least said about the short-lived Inhumans series the better.

But Marvel has found success on the small screen with their shows on Netflix, Hulu, and now Freeform. ABC will once again attempt to launch a new Marvel live-action series that will be female-driven this time.

The series will be penned by Allan Heinberg who wrote the screenplay for Warner Bros. Wonder Woman film. Marvel currently has flooded the small screen with more street level characters such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Punisher on Netflix; Runaways on Hulu; Cloak & Dagger on Freeform; and of course Agents of Shield on ABC. Nothing is known about the new series or who will be in it. However if I were a better man, I’d put my money on this character:

She-Hulk. A fan favorite character amongst fans for years. The cousin of the Hulk, Jennifer Walters, lawyer by day, angry green giant the rest of the time, would act as a great connecting thread between the street level heroes and the Avengers. As for who I’d pick to star?

Jane The Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez. Make it happen Marvel!
