BREAKING! DC Universe is creating a Batgirl series

With actress Ruby Rose playing Batwoman on CW’s Arrowverse of shows, Robin coming to life on DC Universe’s Titans, that leaves one important character left, besides Batman himself.

No not Ace The Bat Hound. (Yes Batman really did at one point fight crime with a kid and a masked dog.)

After a failed attempt by director Joss Whedon to bring her to the big screen, Batgirl will now be swinging onto the DC Universe streaming service as an all new live-action series. The first season will consist of 13 episodes. Production is suggested to begin this February and aiming for a 2020 release date.

Rumor has it, former Jessica Jones showrunner, Melissa Rosenberg, who recently left Marvel/Netflix for WB, is behind the Batgirl series. Rosenberg turned Jessica Jones into one of the most compelling superheroines on the small and big screen. It’s not a lock that the series will revolve around OG Batgirl, Barbara Gordon either. There’s been many Batgirls of the years. Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, though it’s unclear who the live action series will focus on.
