New world. New rules. The Walking Dead returns for Season 9 on Sunday, October 7 at 9/8c.
AMC isn’t even trying to hide the fact they are killing off the series main character. Andrew Lincoln, who has played the series main protagonist, Rick Grimes, is leaving the show. This is a huge departure from the popular comic book series by Robert Kirkman. Of course, the television series previously gave comic book fans the finger last season when they killed off Carl Grimes, who the series was supposed to be all about. But now that the television series has turned into the “Daryl Show” (Norman Reedus is set to collect a huge payday and become the new series lead) The Walking Dead has devolved into just another random zombie show.
Now if you excuse I’ll step off my soapbox…
The Walking Dead premiered on AMC back in 2009 to high praise. When the series began it stayed relatively close to the source material but by season 2, infighting between AMC and showrunners saw three different showrunners come and go between seasons 2 through 4. Scott Gimple righted the ship for a while before once again the series flew off the tracks as the series continued to plummet in the ratings.
