The 3 month X-Men Dark Phoenix reshoot is still underway. As seen above, Game of Thrones Sophie Turner who plays Jean Grey/Phoenix looks to be battling actress Jessica Chastain’s villainous character that has not been confirmed at this time.
Both are wearing the grey, dotted, suits that will be replaced with CGI at a later time.
The acting duo stood on a pebbled floor while crew members and film equipment surrounded them for the nail-biting scene.
In December, fans of the Marvel comic were given a glimpse of the Game of Thrones star as her Class 5 mutant character Jean Grey’s corrupt alter ego Phoenix on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.
The TV-turned-film star revealed in the issue that she learned about multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia to better transform into the possessed character.
‘So many scenes I have to go from broken-down Jean – that’s when she’s most susceptible to Phoenix infiltrating her – to this confident, arrogant, judgmental character within milliseconds,’ the five-time SAG Award nominee explained.
‘It’s about the butterfly effect of this thing happening. What happens when the person you love the most falls into darkness?’
Dark Phoenix is being described as the final “First Class” X-Men film. Set in the 90s, Dark Phoenix follows the continued exploits of the X-Men, now accepted more than feared, the heroes attempt a shuttle rescue that ends in tragedy. Jean is possessed by a cosmic entity known as the Phoenix. This entity is consumed with rage and unparalleled power. Jessica Chastain is rumored to play alien Shi’ar Empress Lilandra who along with her galactic empire, seek to destroy the Phoenix.
The film is expected to arrive in theaters February 14th, 2019.
