The South Korean horror film, Train to Busan is one of the best zombie movies of the last 10 years. Now rumor has it that a sequel is underway. Director Yeon Sang-ho will be back to helm the sequel that will see the virus spread across Korea.
“The scale is rather large,” Yeon said to sources translated by Screen Daily, describing the sequel as sharing the original’s “world view,” but with a new cast, unrelated to the characters in the first movie.
The working title for the Train to Busan sequel, Bando—or Peninsula in English—suggests a more expansive premise than the original. Train to Busan is limited to 250 miles of high-speed railway and a handful of stations along the three-hour route from Seoul to the nation’s second-largest city, Busan.
“It is an extension of Train to Busan, after the virus has spread throughout Korea,” Yeon said, adding that the upcoming film, “deals with the aftermath on the peninsula of what happened in Train to Busan.”
