Loki said it best when he snidely told his brother, Thor, “You must be truly desperate to come to me for help.”
Disney needs a win with their Star Wars franchise. The Last Jedi polarized the fan base and crippled Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s box office. Now, like Rey climbing the mountain to give the lightsaber to Luke Skywalker, so does Disney/JJ Abrams enlist the aid of Star Wars creator George Lucas.
That is if the disturbance in the force is to be believed. The rumor at the House of Mouse is Lucas has been brought in to polish up the script and contribute ideas to the untitled Episode 9 that will not just be an end to the sequel trilogy but also a con conclusion to the Skywalker saga.
Apparently, the plan is to go in heavy on connections to the Prequel and Original trilogies, cementing the nine primary Star Wars movies as one long saga. If that’s the case, then it makes sense why they’re looking to Lucas for help.
Now before you start worrying about dancing Ewoks and Jar-Jar making a comeback, remember, this is a much different Lucasfilm than the one Lucas left behind. The yes men of the previous regime are gone and at the end of the day, Lucas is not in charge. But, the man who crafted the greatest science fiction saga of our generation has every damn right to give his classic characters the proper send-off they deserve.
