HipZOMJoint Role Call #40 Finding The Next Vampire Slayer

When it was announced by showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen that the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot would actually be a continuation or “sequel” series long time fans were happy to hear Owusu-Breen was going to respect the series by not trying retread it with a reboot but instead build on the mythology built by series creator Joss Whedon. This opens the door for a story and a character not necessarily set in high school and could introduce a new Slayer that could be any age or skin color. Since it was revealed the new series is looking for an African-American female lead, HipZOMJoint picked some actresses who we thought would be great for the role:

Letitia Wright

Wright is a fan favorite among fans thanks to her breakout role in “Black Panther” as Shuri. She has the right amount of spunk to be the next great Slayer.

Hayley Law

Law is no stranger to high school dramas having starred in CW’s Riverdale. The actress also showed she can be a badass action star in Netflix’s Altered Carbon. She would be a perfect Slayer.

Sennia Nanua

The youngest of the four is also one of the best actresses out of the group. Nanua starred in the zombie film, “The Girl With All The Gifts.” She is an amazing young actress worthy of a title role.

Alexandra Shipp

Shipp is an up and coming actress who has starred as Storm in X-Men Apocalypse and in the cult comedy/horror film Tragedy Girls. She would be perfect as an older Slayer trying to figure out her newfound powers.

That’s my picks for the next Vampire Slayer. Agree? Disagree? Who would you cast as the new Slayer? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for future Role Calls only on Hipsterzombiejoint.com.
