The 2018 Emmy Nominations are in!

HBO’s Game of Thrones is the big story coming out of the 2018 Emmy nominations announced on Thursday morning. The fan-favorite fantasy show came away with an astounding 22 nominations. Other notable noms were HBO’s other fantasy/sci-fi series, Westworld, and NBC’s Saturday Night Live, having 21 noms themselves.

Game of Thrones, despite receiving so many nominations, will be going head to head with the phenomenon known as The Handmaids Tale. The Hulu series has been a critical hit who won last year in Thrones’ absence.

Because of the timing of its previous season, “Game of Thrones” was not included in last year’s Emmys, opening the door for Hulu’s dystopian drama. “The Handmaid’s Tale” took advantage, becoming the first show from a streaming platform to win best drama.

The awards will be handed out on Sept. 17th on NBC.
