Fox exercises some demons, Cancels ‘The Exorcist’ & ‘Lucifer’

Fox continues to clean house. After the network recently cut three comedies (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mick, and The Last Man On Earth) Fox continued to cancel more programs.

Per Variety:

Lucifer” has been canceled at Fox after three seasons.

The devil drama centered on Tom Ellis as the titular Lucifer, a fallen angel and the Lord of Hell, who worked with the LAPD to take down Earth’s criminals. Lauren German, Tricia Helfer also starred, and Tom Welling had joined the cast for the third season.

In addition to cancelling Lucifer after three seasons, the network has also cancelled The Exorcist TV show after a two-season run.

Ratings have always been low for The Exorcist and it looks like season two was the final nail in the coffin for FOX. Overall, the season averaged a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demo and 1.322 million viewers, and was down by more than 30% in both measures, in comparison to the first season.

Fox is apparently done giving the devil his due.
