Chris Evans Is Done With The MCU After Avengers 4?

We knew that Infinity War would be killing off some fan favorite Avengers (if you didn’t, well spoiler alert) but it looks like we know one actor who won’t be sticking around much longer.

Chris Evans.

The Captain America star has stated he will be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after his contract is fulfilled (with Avengers 4.) Last year, he filmed back-to-back the final two Marvel movies for which he is under contract — Avengers: Infinity War, due in April, and a sequel planned for next year. For now, he has no plans to return to the franchise (“You want to get off the train before they push you off,” he said), and expects that planned reshoots in the fall will mark the end of his tenure in the familiar red, white and blue super suit.

But don’t expect Captain America to go away, despite Evans departure. In the comics, the mantle of Captain has passed to several heroes over the years. Bucky and Falcon have both served as stand-ins for Steve Rogers at various points in the comics.

Avengers Infinity War arrives in theaters April 27th, 2018.
