Godzilla 2 Early Review Calls It “Epic”

Tuesday night in Hollywood, a secret early screening of the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla titled Godzilla King of the Monsters (maybe) was shown.

To sum up the majority of feedback, it sounds like Godzilla 2 will be a lot more action-packed like Kong: Skull Island and less atmospheric and subtle like the 2015 original. Twitter user Jeremy Conrad, who we sourced the original claims of the test screenings from yesterday, followed up today, adding that the monster fights are apparently “epic”, while plot and character development seem to have taken a back seat:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
