The Full Trailer For Netflix‘s Lost In Space Reboot Is Here.
A couple of days ago, Netflix dropped the surprise teaser for their ambitious looking reboot of the classic Lost In Space series. Today, the streaming service has unveiled a longer first trailer that shows us more of the adventures we can expect to see the Robinsons take part in. Here is a synopsis of Lost In Space:
The Robinson family, part of a highly trained mission to establish a new colony in space, is unexpectedly pulled off course forcing them to crash land on a lost planet. Danger will find them.
The trailer begins with what appears to be a space station coming into view. A random explosion happens and the Jupiter-2, the shuttle of the Robinson family, looks to be in peril. Inside the shuttle, the passengers frantically cling together fearing the worst as the ship’s emergency lights flicker on and off as the ship violently shakes and rattles. Debris from the space station falls towards the planet dispersing in all directions. A large chunk of debris hurdles towards the Jupiter-2. The debris collides with the ship knocking it down to the planet below. A small boy emerges from the wreckage of the ship in his space-suit.
The boy, Will Robinson, steps out onto the snow-covered ground saying in a voice-over “We’re lost.” Will explores the mysterious planet and keeps a recorded log of his discoveries. He begins his recording by stating, “This is Will Robinson, of the 24th colonists’ group. I am the first human to discover evidence of an alien intelligence.” Will is then shown coming into contact with an otherworldly looking humanoid/robotic creature with an orange energy pulsating face and long slender fingers. The towering robot stomps towards the Robinsons as Will tries to ease their fears by saying he is with him. The colossal robot turns to Will and utters the classic phrase, “Danger Will Robinson.”
An assortment of scenes depicts the Robinsons exploring the various alien terrains. A voice over is heard saying “We may not be safe here,” as the Jupiter-2 crew watches their ship sink under a large chunk of melted ice. Maureen and John Robinson are seen having a very serious discussion, as Maureen asks how much time they have with John responding very matter of fact with “Weeks.” A montage of scenes then a shown with the Robinsons trying to survive on the alien planet and Will teaching Robot how to play catch.
We flashback to a time before the Jupiter-2 mission where we see brother and sister Judy Robinson and Will having a talk in their kitchen about a rule written in stone “Robinsons stick together.” An array of scenes showing various action set pieces are shown as the Robinsons meet the shady Dr. Smith (played this time by actress Parker Posey.) The final scene is Will Robinson floating helplessly in space towards a planet.
Based on the classic 1960’s science fiction adventure series, Lost In Space is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and will consist of 10 episodes. The series is produced by Legendary Television, Synthesis Entertainment, and Applebox, with Zack Estrin serving as showrunner. The series stars Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson; Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson; Toby Stephens as John Robinson; Parker Posey as Dr. Smith; Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson; Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson; and Ignacio Serricchio as Don West.
