Den of Geek reports that The Strain alum Dwain Murphy has been cast as Larry Trainor, aka Negative Man. A former pilot who gained strange “negative energy” powers after a plane crash, Negative Man was one of the founding members of the Doom Patrol. He is traditionally depicted as wrapped in bandages in order to protect those around him from his powers, which he cannot always control. He has appeared in various incarnations in the comics since his original appearance in 1963, from Infinite Crisis to Superboy.
In the past few weeks, we’ve seen the additions of Bruno Bichir as Doom Patrol leader The Chief, April Bowlby as Elasti-Girl, and Jake Michaels as Robotman. They join Castle‘s Seamus Dever in an as-yet-unknown role, with casting calls including descriptions that might point to the appearances by Solstice and legendary Batman/Arrow villain Ra’s Al-Ghul.
Despite the flurry of casting news, there is no firm date for the show’s premiere, nor do we even know what WB/DC’s digital streaming service will be called. Still, the official images we’ve seen of some of DC’s most intriguing characters are exciting enough to hold out hope that Titans will offer some bold storytelling choices, which would hopefully include Batman flashbacks (and dare we hope, maybe even an Arrow crossover).
